February 2020. The Centre and the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore (UVAS) signed a memorandum of understanding. President of the Centre, Barrister Nudra B. Majeed and Dean, Faculty of Bio-science Prof. Dr. Habib-ur-Rehman signed the MoU in a ceremony held at the City Campus, Lahore. Officials of PCLS and UVAS were also present at the ceremony. Speaking on the occasion, Barrister Nudra said the purpose of the collaboration with UVAS to to create a platform for engagement between Law and Civil Society. The issues of focus for the two organizations will be (i) Water crisis; (ii) legal protections for service staff facing abuse from pet owners; developing and governing cultural heritage facilities of UVAS’s historic campus. Dr. Habib highlighted the Environmental Sciences Deptt.s’ work in tackling water issues and the need to learn about and adopt latest techniques in water recycling. Prof. Dr. Aneela – the driving force behind the collaboration – said that there was a dire need to bring change in society through positive behavior with respect to animals and animal service providers.
Under the MOU, both parties will arrange workshops and symposia for knowledge-sharing, draft and implement policy to facilitate services provided by UVAS and raise the profile of UVAS campuses by developing and governing their cultural heritage facilities.
