Social Development

“And if all the trees on earth were pens and the seas [was ink], Increased after by seven [more] seas,
even then the words of Allāh would not be exhausted. Indeed, Allāh is Exalted, the wise” — Surah Luqman 31:27

“Look deep into nature, and you will understand everything better” — Albert Einstein

“Education breeds Confidence. Confidence breeds Hope. Hope breeds Peace.”

Alam al-Khayal runs various sports initiatives to supplement education and develop an active and athletic society in Pakistan. These initiatives include sports programs, competitions, research, and documentation.
Our sports program helps students from the most underprivileged schools in the country participate in high-level and elite sports.
Children from 4 yrs – to 18 yrs are taught sports such as tennis, badminton, volleyball, handball, football, hockey, martial arts, indigenous games, and small area games. Training is conducted by academically qualified coaches who teach the science, rules, and regulations of each sport along with targeted training by fitness trainers, physiotherapists, and nutritionists.
The program started with 300 children and now has grown to serve over 5,000 children – a number which is steadily increasing. AKF also sponsors and organizes tennis tournaments on the district, national, and international levels in order to identify future champions, create an environment where children are encouraged to excel, and provide level playing fields to encourage future partnerships.
AKF has also started, in cooperation with the Asian and Pakistan Tennis Federations, the globally acclaimed Junior Tennis Initiative Program of the international Tennis Federation. Using international-standard equipment, the JTI Program caters to both public and private school children from 3 yrs – to 11 years old.

Honouring Cultural Heritage through Music.
Alam al Khayal is deeply involved in encouraging the preservation and flourishing of one of the subcontinent’s greatest treasures: classical music. The program is led by eminent musician and multi-instrumentalist Ustad Hanif Khan, who brought his decades-long experience with performance and teaching to the foundation to form the Al-Khayal Music Society. Over the past six years, the Al-Khayal Music Society has become well-known in Lahore and throughout the country as a platform which has been promoting and introducing talent in the Pakistani classical music community through its regular live performances, both online and offline, featuring some of the most well-respected names in contemporary classical music such as Ustad Fateh Ali Khan, Ustad Mubarak Ali Khan, Ustad Hamid Ali Khan, and more. Members of the classical music community from all different levels have become involved with the Al Khayal Music Society: from passionate audience members, to freshly learning students, to renowned masters who come to watch and perform themselves. Today the Society is continuing to flourish, conducting regular online sessions and providing a unique platform for classical music in Pakistan.

Inter Faith

“Reaching the end of the spiritual path means to re-assume the tremendous responsibilities from which mankind has fallen away. This is the state in which man was originally created.”

Silk Road, Old and New

In March 2018, in Tbilisi, Georgia, AKF presented unique findings on ‘the common word’ in the textile histories of the countries along the Silk Road. The presentation showed how skill and spiritual worldviews were woven into fabrics before the birth of Christ and long into the Middle Ages. These fabrics were then transported as far as Java and Sumatra in the East and Sicily, Naples and Vienna in the West. The project has expanded to include the cultural impact of the new Silk Road i.e. the Chinese One Belt, One Road initiative on Pakistan. Research is currently underway.

Academic Projects Modern Lessons from a Medieval Poem – Qasidat al-Burdah

Spiritual solutions to political problems are given in a 13th-century Egyptian eulogy. This book/lecture project is on the Qasidat al-Burdah – the praise poem written in honor of the Prophet Muhammad which, after the Muslim Holy Book, is the most memorized text in the Islamic world. The book will be completed in summer 2021 followed by a series of talks on the study and practical application of the Qasidat al-Burdah to current political problems.

Qarawiyyin – The Oldest University in the World

This project features talks and seminars in Pakistan, Morocco and Spain on Fatima al-Fihri, the founder of the Qarawiyyin University in Fez, Morocco which is the oldest degree-awarding university in the world. The aim is to review modern misconceptions about the darkness and rigidity of the medieval ages and re-visit the active role women played in medieval society and the spread of education; schools and colleges. This project is expected to commence in 2020.
