In 2015, AK inherited the Boota Park, Shahdara Project from the Fi SabeeliLlah Trust. Shahdara is one of the most densely-populated areas in the urban sprawl of Lahore which struggles with adequate education, medical and sanitation facilities. The Trust had been running a free dispensary and vocational school for women in Shahdara for over 20 years. 10 years ago, the Trust built a mosque and school for boys in Boota Park, Shahdara as the nearest boys’ school was over 10 kms away resulting in the majority of the young male population of Boota Park wasting their days on streets or indulging in petty crime. With the mosque and school running successfully, many street boys are now receiving a free education with awards / stipends for hard-workers / high achievers. AK now runs the Boota Park project for the Trust on the demise of the Trust’s founder, Dr. Sameen Zakauddin – pediatric physician, spiritual counselor, benefactor and social worker extraordinaire.
