Humanitarian Aid

AKF’s humanitarian aid programs are designed to save lives and alleviate suffering during and in the immediate aftermath of emergencies. Some of these aid programs also include the components of development aid that respond to the ongoing structural issues, particularly systemic poverty, that may hinder economic, institutional and social development in any given society, and assists in building capacity to ensure resilient communities and sustainable livelihoods.

(i) Zakat Donation

The Alam al-Khayal Foundation runs several projects across Pakistan through Zakat donations. These

humanitarian services remain operational across the year and benefit the needy and poor people of Pakistan.

(ii) Crisis Relief

Climatic and political emergencies and disasters are increasing in complexity, frequency and duration. AKF has been active in providing humanitarian aid ever since the massive earthquake in northern Pakistan in 2005. In the years since then AKF has provided aid during other crises, such as the 2010 floods, and has been active in long-term drought relief work in Tharparkar district.

(iii) Qarz-e-Hasna Scheme

Access to education is a crucial building-block of a progressive and informed society. To that end, AKF has initiated a Qarz-e-Hasna (interest-free loan) scheme with the objective of financially supporting outstanding under-privileged students.

(iv) Covid-19 Ration Relief for Daily-Wage Workers

The Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic is a global crisis unlike any we have witnessed before. As governments act to minimize the loss of life by imposing precautionary measures, we at AKF also begin to do our part in reckoning with the social and economic impact of this crisis on the most vulnerable members of our community by providing ration relief to thousands of daily-wage workers.
